Kaleidoscope of Death - Chapter 64.1: Set Up
Under the darkness of the night, Lin Qiushi finally fell asleep, but due to his excellent hearing, even the smallest sounds could wake him up from his sleep,
Today was no exception. He, who was sound asleep, heard strange noises again.
At first, the sound was very quiet, and he couldn’t hear very clearly. Lin Qiushi woke up but didn’t open his eyes yet. However, as time passed, the sound grew louder and louder. If it had to be described, it sounded like a heavy object falling on the ground.
Just as Lin Qiushi was wondering about what the sound could be and whether or not he should get up, a sudden loud noise completely woke him up. The noise was so loud that even Ruan Nanzhu on the upper bunk and Feng Yongle on the bed beside them heard it.
“What’s that?” said Feng Yongle with a confused and sleepy voice.
Ruan Nanzhu knew that Lin Qiushi was already awake. “It came from the window,” he replied.
“Should we go check it out?”
“Wait just a moment.”
Therefore, the three of them continued to lie on their beds. A few minutes later, there was another loud noise, and this time, it came from a place closer to them.
Lin Qiushi heard the sound of Ruan Nanzhu sitting up on the bed. He slowly climbed down from the upper bunk, as if he wanted to go to the window to check out what was going on.
Seeing this, Lin Qiushi also got up, wanting to take a look with him.
Ruan Nanzhu glanced at him and didn’t say anything.
The two left their beds and walked to the window. Since they were worried that something was outside, they moved very carefully.
“There’s nothing,” said Ruan Nanzhu after he looked outside and confirmed the situation.
Nothing? Lin Qiushi started to type: It sounds like something heavy fell onto the ground.
“Something heavy fell?” asked Ruan Nanzhu.
He started to think.
While Ruan Nanzhu was thinking, Lin Qiushi, who was facing the window, suddenly saw a dark shadow falling, followed by the familiar loud noise—Bang!
This time, Lin Qiushi finally understood where the sound came from. It was people jumping from the building, and then their bodies landing on the ground.
Ruan Nanzhu looked out the window again and saw that there was an additional near-shattered corpse. Due to the darkness of the night, they couldn’t see the details clearly, but Lin Qiushi could clearly see the sanatorium nurse uniform she was wearing. She seemed to have landed head first, and blood was gushing out at an incredible rate. Her whole body was positioned extremely awkwardly and some parts were still twitching slowly.
So that was the cause of the loud noises. Ruan Nanzhu looked at the corpse for a moment, then whispered, “Oh, they’re hers.”
Lin Qiushi didn’t understand and looked at him confusedly.
“She is wearing that pair of red high heels…” explained Ruan Nanzhu.
Lin Qiushi: “…”
While the two of them were talking, the corpse of the nurses whose body parts were almost thrown apart already started to move. Both of her legs seemed to be broken, so she moved with her hands and climbed towards the building in front of her…
By now, Feng Yongle also got off the bed. The second he saw this scene, his face immediately turned pale and he cursed.
The nurse’s body quickly climbed into the building where they were located, and the bloodstains on the ground began to fade away.
Just as Lin Qiushi was wondering what would happen next, he heard a rustling noise coming from the directions of the stairs. Fortunately, the sound didn’t seem to be approaching them and instead was going up.
Three minutes later, a dark shadow suddenly jumped from the room above them, and then there was another loud bang — the nurse climbed to the room above them and jumped down again.
“I heard that people who commit suicide would repeatedly experience the same scenes,” said Feng Yongle as he watched the scene in front of him, “It’s so scary.”
“Indeed,” said Ruan Nanzhu, but he doesn’t sound scared at all.
The nurse just kept climbing up the stairs and then jumping down from one of the rooms. From left to right, she pretty much jumped down from every single room at least once. It wasn’t until after the morning light shone from the horizon did she finally stop.
Ruan Nanzhu looked at his watch, “It’s almost breakfast time, let’s go.”
Lin Qiushi almost didn’t get any sleep during the night. He was so sleepy as he yawned and rubbed his eyes.
When the three of them went downstairs to the cafeteria, they also met some of the other members of the group. They also looked like they didn’t sleep last night, probably because they were also watching commit suicide the whole night.
“I’m so tired,” complained Feng Yongle, “Can we go back and take a nap later?”
“Sure,” said Ruan Nanzhu.
Lin Qiushi also agreed in his head. Right now, he had two dark circles around his eyes, making him look even more haggard. In the cafeteria, Jiang Yingrui, who wanted to team up with him earlier, was sitting beside them. After he saw them, he smiled. Lin Qiushi pretended that he didn’t see him again, but Ruan Nanzhu responded to him with a smile.
“Morning,” said Jiang Yingrui as he walked to their side, “Did you guys sleep well last night?”
“Not so good,” replied Ruan Nanzhu, “Didn’t you hear that sound?”
“Of course,” Jiang Yingrui was talking to Ruan Nanzhu, but his eyes were looking at Lin Qiushi, “Did you guys spent the whole night watching?”
“I’m alright, but I don’t think Qiuqiu sleeps very soundly during the night. She couldn’t fall asleep, so I accompanied her,” replied Ruan Nanzhu, “You all went back to bed?”
“Of course,” said Ruan Nanzhu.
“Oh wow,” said Ruan Nanzhu, “is there anything else?”
“Nope,” Jiang Yingrui said with a smile, “How does breakfast taste?”
“So-so,” said Ruan Nanzhu as he placed down the spoon, “I don’t think you find it delicious either right?”
Jiang Yingrui shook his head and took out a piece of chocolate from his pocket and handed it to Ruan Nanzhu. “If you’re hungry, you can eat this.”
Lin Qiushi glanced at Jiang Yingrui calmly when he saw the chocolate.
Jiang Yingrui didn’t notice his look as he stood up and said, “Then I’ll be going now.”
“Cool.” Ruan Nanzhu took the chocolate and put it in his pocket. Then he smiled, “See ya.”
Jiang Yingrui turned around and left.
“This chocolate looks delicious,” said Ruan Nanzhu, “After the nap, let’s all taste this delicacy.” He spoke in a very calm tone as if the chocolate wasn’t a big deal at all. But a person who knew him well like Lin Qiushi knew that this meant Ruan Nanzhu was angry.
It was only natural to be angry. Lin Qiushi wiped his mouth and wondered what wicked idea this Jiang Yingrui was up to.
Inside the doors, some important NPCs would give them hints and also set rules. Most of the hints were true, but not a single one of the rules was fake.
For example, how they couldn’t eat anywhere else but the cafeteria and they mustn’t eat any food brought from the outside. These were all rules told to them by the nurse who brought them upstairs.
After yesterday’s scene where the patient who ate noodles had his eyeballs stabbed, anyone would immediately be able to tell that the rules weren’t joking.
This was the sixth door already, and that Jiang Yingrui wasn’t a newcomer either. Therefore, while knowing the rules and yet still giving Ruan Nanzhu chocolate, he was definitely up to no good.
If they didn’t remember the nurse’s rules and accidentally ate the chocolate, who knew what could happen.
And even if nothing happened, it would just allow the others to know what there was a fake rule.
