- Chapter 180: Senior Brothers' Concern
“Alright, don’t snatch her work,” Jiang Mingzhu said with a playful smile.
After the injection, Li Xuan felt somewhat comfortable but also tired, so she lay down on the bed. Xie Wanying pulled the blanket over her, with help from Jiang Mingzhu, and asked her, “Did they say you got injured?”
“It’s nothing, just a minor scrape on my hand,” Xie Wanying replied.
“Come here.”
Uh-oh, that was her senior brother speaking. Xie Wanying broke into light sweat.
Jiang Mingzhu gave her a meaningful look, signalling her to go.
Even the Senior Sister couldn’t help it; it was Senior Brother Cao who spoke.
Xie Wanying turned around and followed the two senior brothers.
Huang Zhilei intentionally walked slowly, reminding her, “You… make sure to reflect later, okay?”
They reached a corner with no one around, and Huang Zhilei stepped aside.
Xie Wanying walked up alone and raised her eyes.
Cao Yong stood by the window, wearing a deep blue sweater underneath a grey cashmere coat. He exuded an aura of dominance at times and a charismatic charm at others. His handsome profile was pressed against the window, his brows furrowed.
It was clear that Senior Brother Cao was not very pleased. Xie Wanying remembered Huang Zhilei’s advice and proactively admitted, “Senior Brother, I know I made a mistake last night.”
Seemingly not expecting her to say this, Cao Yong turned to look at her with a hint of surprise in his eyes.
“What mistake?” Cao Yong asked.
Xie Wanying recalled the reactions of the teachers and senior brothers and summarised, “I shouldn’t have made excuses to evade the teachers’ questions.”
Huang Zhilei, who was eavesdropping from a distance, slapped his forehead. It seemed he had lectured his junior for no reason last night.
She meant that she wasn’t smart enough to deceive the seniors, right? Cao Yong’s eyebrow raised slightly, and when he saw her genuinely pondering the question, he couldn’t help but hold back a smile.
Laughter burst out from Cao Yong’s throat, and to Xie Wanying’s ears, it wasn’t surprising at all. She had long sensed that Senior Brother Cao was quite a cheerful person, and he looked even more handsome when he smiled.
Still chuckling, Cao Yong inwardly admitted that he wasn’t that heartless robot who could be stern with her.
Criticise her?
Forget it.
After all, she had received enough education last night, and she didn’t need him to add to it.
“Give me your hand,” Cao Yong said.
Xie Wanying obediently extended her injured hand to let her senior brother inspect it.
He pulled up her sleeve to check the scab forming over the wound and asked, “Is your rib still hurting?”
Xie Wanying wanted to say it wasn’t hurting, but she remembered the lesson from last night and dared not speak.
Seeing her expression, Cao Yong immediately understood. He gently lowered her sleeve and said, “I’ll talk to Senior Brother Huang later. One shouldn’t treat girls like this.”
It was evident that Cao Senior Brother was a gentle and considerate gentleman. Xie Wanying breathed a sigh of relief.
“Let’s go, have some food,” Cao Yong said, holding her hand and leading her outside.
They had walked several steps before Xie Wanying realised, “My friend is getting an injection—”
“Is this a lack of trust in our hospital’s professional abilities? Someone will be responsible for monitoring her condition while she’s getting the injection here,” Cao Yong stated in a professional tone.
With Senior Brother’s assurance, Xie Wanying could only add, “But she hasn’t had lunch.”
“We’ll bring her some food when we go to eat.”
With a few more exchanges, she was pulled out of the hospital. When she turned around, she noticed that Senior Brother Huang hadn’t followed them.
“He has to work.”
“Do you want to bring lunch for Senior Brother Huang too? What does he like to eat?”
“Remember his words, how come you didn’t remember to call him and report the situation last night?”
