Invincible Powers - Chapter 64: Bloodthirsty Mural
The sun was searing.
Leaning on the rugged stones, Yu Yuan was steaming under the heat waves from the sun.
After consuming a Blood Refinement Pill, Yu Yuan was busy replenishing his vitality.
In his body, the wounds caused by Fan Li’s intrusive energy were slowly being healed.
Those sword lights also returned to their original positions around his arms.
The sword light was like a strange engraving that was branded onto his bones. The ancient sense of it was urging him to quickly unleash its true power.
It had been a while since he parted from Fan Li.
This whole time, he was focused on recovering from that battle.
Not far away, Zhao Yafu, Yuan Ting, and the others were cultivated under the shade.
This time, they did not choose to stay in any of the craters but a flat, plain-like area.
They chose here to avoid any more unnecessary conflicts, so they could all have time to cultivate.
Yuan Ting was worried that someone from the Hidden Moon City might come after them for revenge.
Step! Step, step!
Suddenly, they heard some footsteps approaching.
Zhao Yafu was the first to notice. She sat up and looked around, seeing Han Hui and her group appearing in her sight, looking defeated.
Since Yu Yuan came up from the crater where Fan Li was, the two groups went their own ways.
Agreeing to Yu Yuan’s suggestion, the Dark Moon City group paused their search for mysteries in the craters but tried their luck on the plains instead.
Han Hui led her group from the Cold Moon City onward to the next crater.
But why were they up here now?
“Sister Han, how are you doing?” Zhao Yafu waved at them and asked, “What happened? Did you have a battle with someone?”
“We fought a group from the Waning Moon City in one of the craters.” Han Hui looked very annoyed. “We got there first. It was a large mural that could form a stage formation when activated with spiritual energy. From the looks of it, the mural must be some powerful formation from a sect or clan. Just as we are about to copy it down, the Waning Moon City group attacked us.”
Yuan Ting also walked out to greet them. “Is everyone alright then?”
“They won’t intentionally break the rules, so these people just injured a few of us to force us away,” Han Hui sighed lightly. “We are all cowards, none of us could even put up a proper fight.”
“Sister Hui, I know that you are never scared of them,” said Yu Feifei.
Zhao Yafu added, “You are a leader, so you should look out for your teammates.”
Yuan Ting nodded. “Your wise decision saved a lot of trouble.”
Everyone in Dark Moon City tried to comfort Han Hui and the others.
“We have been lucky at finding treasures but never once keeping them for long.” Han Hui paused. “We are the weakest two teams in the Forbidden Land. How about let’s join forces?”
“That sounds like a great idea,” Another person said. “With more people, we will have a better chance of acquiring the next time.”
“I’m sure we can take that mural back!”
“I bet they will be too scared to even fight all of us!”
“That’s a good plan, what do you think?”
After losing to two groups already, Han Hui decided to change her approach a little.”
“An alliance…”
Yuan Ting thought about it for a moment and turned to Zhao Yafu, “What do you think?”
Zhao Yafu’s cultivation was the highest among them, so she asked for her opinion first.
Zhao Yafu didn’t answer but turned to Yu Yuan, “Let’s not rush it. We can ask Brother Yu when he finishes.”
“What? You need his approval?” Han Hui didn’t understand. “I admit he is a bit unique, like breaking through realms while walking, but…”
From what she could tell, Yu Yuan was the weakest in the Dark Moon City team.
“That doesn’t matter. I’ll ask him anyway,” Zhao Yafu made up her mind.
“O-okay,” Yuan Ting tried to ease the situation, “the Mayoress of our city also wants us to seek his opinion before making decisions.”
“Well, well,” Han Hui shook her head, “I just feel that it will be beneficial to both of us.”
“We’ll see.” Zhao Yafu said.
“Alright.”
…
Somewhere in the forbidden area, there was a spacious and brightly lit cave with a giant mural on its walls.
The patterns on the mural were carved with a sharp blade.
It was showing several streams of rivers with a few clouds in the dim sky.
The entire mural emitted a gloomy and withered sensation.
The dozen of people from the Waning Moon City who took over the mural forcefully from Han Hui was in the cave. They had several clothes of different colors and styles, each representing a different clan.
They were either sitting still or standing in front of the wall, studying in the mural.
No one spoke.
Time passed slowly.
After a long time, someone who was looking at the mural suddenly fell onto the ground.
Woosh!
Red blood spewed from his mouth and floated into the rivers carved on the walls.
The streams on the wall were soon flowing with blood.
Then, one after another, everyone inside the cave started collapsing.
More blood appeared in the mural, making the rivers looking more terrifying and gloomy.
Finally, after everyone was on the ground, the clouds became colorful and lively.
Huff.
One of the cloud clusters floated out of the mural and formed a gray, ghost-like figure. It quickly pierced into the center of a young girl’s eyebrows.
The girl, whose blood had been drained out of her body, suddenly sat up.
She sat blankly on the ground, looking at the mural in front of her.
The girl’s eyes showed a weird dark green color, like fireflies in the middle of the night.
The girl finally stood up and continued looking at the mural.
Woosh!
The river of blood in the mural suddenly flew out and into the girl’s mouth.
The blood, however, turned dark green as soon as it entered her mouth.
The deflated body became full and round again, looking even more beautiful than it was previously.
Suddenly, she seemed to notice something and frowned slightly.
Bang.
The pearl serving as the monitoring device for the Mirage Water Curtain burst into pieces.
The girl waved and pulled on an invisible object.
With every one of her gestures, grey clouds formed and went into the teens lying around the ground.
Just like before, the green blood once again refilled their bodies.
Seven people came alive and sat up.
Those seven young men and women were like her loyal followers. They stood up and clustered behind her.
Blast!
A faint green flame flew out from the girl’s fingertips and fell on the rest of the bodies that were not used.
Instantly, the flames ignited the corpses and burned them to ashes.
Before long, no trace of any human’s existence remained.
The eyes of the girl were at first empty and depressing.
But after she did all these, her pupils brightened and became agile.
She glanced at the murals in the cave with some disgust.
The streams and rivers remain on the cave’s walls, but the clouds are all gone.
She walked out.
The other seven ghost-like puppets also followed her silently.
