- Chapter 178: First meeting with Senior sister from Digestive department
Zhao Zhaowei wasn’t short, and for a male, a weight range of 54 to 64 kilograms at 1.75 metres was considered normal. Xie Wanying weighed a little over 100 kilograms, with most of her weight being muscle.
“Who is she?” Li Qi’an noticed the girl standing behind her.
“She’s my childhood friend. She has tonsillitis. Can you help me find a senior to take a look at her?” Xie Wanying asked.
“Are you talking about Sister Jiang? Of course, I can help with that,” Li Qi’an said.
Jiang Shijie’s full name was Jiang Mingzhu, the senior that Senior Sister Liu Jingyun had mentioned, who stayed in the Gastroenterology Department. Xie Wanying was pleasantly surprised to meet her today.
Soon after, a slightly thin female doctor wearing glasses and exuding an elegant demeanor emerged from the internal medicine office.
It was indeed Jiang Shijie.
Upon hearing that her legendary junior had come, Jiang Mingzhu quickly walked over to meet them.
“Sister, my childhood friend has tonsillitis,” Xie Wanying told her excitedly, but they had to take care of her friend’s illness first.
“Come over here,” Jiang Mingzhu led them into the internal medicine examination room.
She opened a flashlight and began to examine the patient’s tonsils. She said, “Open your mouth and say ‘ah’.”
Seeing Xie Wanying nod in agreement, Wu Lixuan opened her mouth and said, “Ah.”
After using a tongue depressor to hold down the patient’s tongue, Jiang Mingzhu carefully examined it and said, “It’s quite swollen, and it looks like there might be some pus forming. We need to give her an anti-inflammatory injection; just taking medication won’t be enough.”
“That’s exactly what Wanying said,” Wu Lixuan sighed in relief.
“Wow, she’s really good. You can tell she needs an injection just by looking at her, right?” Jiang Mingzhu asked with a smile.
“Yes, I told her that she’ll definitely become a great doctor in the future,” Wu Lixuan said.
Xie Wanying gently patted her friend’s shoulder, saying, “Don’t brag about me like that, especially in front of seniors.”
“Blood draw, lab tests, and administer the injection. She’ll need injections for at least three days,” Jiang Mingzhu gave instructions and then proceeded to write the patient’s medical history. Li Qi’an on the other side helped fill out the test request forms.
Xie Wanying took the test request forms and went to find a nurse for assistance. The nurse helped her find a bed for Wu Lixuan to lie down on for the injection.
Her phone rang, and Xie Wanying didn’t check the caller ID before answering, “Hello, may I ask who’s calling?”
“I’m Cao Yong.”
Cao Senior suddenly called, and Xie Wanying, remembering her anger from last night with Huang Senior, felt a bit nervous.
“Are you resting in the dorm right now?” Cao Yong asked.
“No…”
After the lesson she learned last night, Xie Wanying didn’t dare to make excuses to the seniors anymore.
On the other side, Huang Zhilei heard her response and became anxious, exclaiming, “I told you to go back and rest. Where did you go? What are you trying to do?”
“It’s like this, Senior. My childhood friend has a fever, so I brought her to the emergency room,” Xie Wanying explained the situation in detail to her senior. She had indeed followed the medical advice diligently.
“Alright, we’ll come down to the emergency room,” Cao Yong said.
The two seniors were coming to the emergency room to check if she was lying. Xie Wanying could only look up at the ceiling in response.
First, she went to the counter to settle the emergency room fees. When she returned, she saw the nurse preparing to draw blood from her friend. The nurse turned and noticed her, asking, “Would you like to try drawing blood?”
The nurse was really kind. Usually, clinical medical students who didn’t have a good relationship with nurses would find it hard to get guidance and opportunities to practise drawing blood.
For many medical students, this was the practice opportunity they desired. Xie Wanying walked up and first consulted her friend’s opinion.
Wu Lixuan nodded and said, “You can do it for me, Wanying. That way, I won’t be scared.”
